This painting is one of the first few pieces I painted at the beginning of 2019. It’s part of a series I’m working on that’s centered around depicting images from my dreams.
Part of a recent series of works that depict images from my dreams.
Shrouded Glow. 16”x20” Mixed media on canvas. 2019. Available for purchase from Verbatim Books.
These experimental pieces on 16”x20” thick archival papers are an interesting exploration into surrealist autonomy techniques. Using a variety of mediums and unique materials, each piece aims to tap into the “omnipotence of the dream” — to harness the awesome creative power that lives in the subconscious realm. Most are available for purchase, please inquire about pricing and other details by submitting this form.
Pigments include traditional mediums like ink, gouache, and acrylic paint as well as some non traditional ones like, teas, bleach, soapy water, vinegar, & plant clippings. The processes used to create these works are a mix of traditional and unconventional methods, and varies in each piece. Papers are archival and acid free, and coated with a non yellowing UV protectant/lightfastness agent.
Traditional oil paintings on stretched canvas created in 2011-2012. This series is my first exploration into surreal imagery. My inspiration came from a wide variety of sources: vintage photographs, macro images and classic cinema (namely Fellini films, but especially Juliet and the Spirits). Most of these pieces were created while I was enrolled in Robert Sanchez’s oil painting courses during my time as a student of Mesa College.
Not available for sale.
These pieces represent some of my earliest experiences with painting. Under the guidance of my friend and mentor Jeff Robin, I started to realize just how much I loved to paint, and how much I loved learning and honing my technical skills. These works were created in my senior year of high school, over ten years ago in 2008.
All pieces have been sold to private collectors and unfortunately are not available for public viewing.
