I created this zine to share some of my favorite places in the city to watch hawks hunt, soar, perch, squeak and screech at each other while soaring through the air majestically with the deft precision of an angular fighter jet. Hawk Stalk isn’t exactly a comprehensive list as much as it is a curated collection of urban canyons and green spaces where you can reliably spot a powerful bird of prey doing what comes naturally. And that’s an awesome sight, let me assure you.
I originally released Hawk Stalk Vol. I at Zinefest in the fall of 2017. Since then, I’ve sold copies at a variety of other events like the San Diego Book Fair, holiday Makers Markets, and you might even be able to dig up an errant copy for sale in the zine section of Verbatim Books. But the point is, there aren’t that many unclaimed paper copies of this zine floating around these days, and because I’m gearing up to release Hawk Stalk Vol. II in the near future, I’m going to go ahead and provide a digital copy of this zine available for free download right here on my site, so that anybody can enjoy it.
